Striker Romelu Lukaku has achieved a lot in football but has endured an unusual career. Failed at Chelsea, succeeded at Everton. Struggled at Manchester United, dazzled at Inter Milan. Then it was back to Stamford bridge for another unsuccessful spell. Nevertheless, throughout his career he has found the back of the net and is his nation Belgium’s all-time top goalscorer. The 33-year-old has spent the last two seasons at Napoli, where he played a key role in the club’s Scudetto triumph in the 2024/25 campaign. But he’s now set to play football in another European country.

Turkish giants Fenerbahce have reportedly sent a new official bid to Napoli for Lukaku, with a proposal in excess of €6 million – which is the exact player’s Transfermarkt market value. The Belgian striker has also already agreed personal terms with Fener. More to follow. Across his senior club career, Lukaku has scored 316 goals in 681 matches. He is also the second most expensive player in history if we rank by accumulated transfer fees.

He was signed by Chelsea when he was 18 from Anderlecht for €15m, before being sold to Everton for €35m. Man United splashed €85m on his signature before offloading him to Inter for €74. Then, Chelsea forkd out a whopping €113m to bring their former player back to West London, before he signed for Napoli for €30m in 2024. The pending €6m deal to Fener would take his total accumulated fees to €376m.
