The Champions League league phase finale takes place this Wednesday evening, and there will be plenty of drama from the final round of fixtures set. Although, we have already had one season of the new format, there are definitely still more questions than answers when it comes to this stage of the tournament, and there have also even been some changes since the last campaign. Here at Transfermarkt, we will be following the action LIVE, and bringing you all the goals as they go in, as well as what they could mean in the grand scheme of the league table and the knockout rounds.

21:21: Napoli 2-2 Chelsea. An absolute banger from João Pedro! Big goal for Chelsea in their chase for the top eight.
21:20: Benfica 3-1 Real Madrid! Schjelderup scores another and it’s a beauty.
21:19: Newcastle lead at the Parc des Princes.. but it’s disallowed for offside.
21:17: Bayern Munich lead at PSV. The goal comes from Jamal Musiala after great work from Lennart Karl. His first goal since returning from injury.
21:16: Liverpool 4-0 Qarabag. Lovely goal from Hugo Ekitiké.
21:12: Ajax 0-1 Olympiacos. Gelson Martins with the goal.
21:10: Pafos 2-1 Slavia Prague. Bruno Felipe scores.
21:09: It’s 3-0 Liverpool against Qarabag and it’s Mo Salah! The Egyptian king scores a fine free-kick. His first Liverpool goal since the start of November.
21:05: Barcelona have equalised, big goal for the Catalans! Robert Lewandowski equalises against FC Copenhagen. 1-1. Currently puts them ninth.
21:04: Early second half goal at Frankfurt. Randal Kolo Muani gives Tottenham the lead. 1-0. Huge goal for Spurs – that could see them make the last 16.
21:03: 28 goals in the first half. The second halves begin now.
21:01: 12 goals in seven Champions League games for Kylian Mbappé this season. But Real Madrid need him to add to this tally in the second half. Benfica 2-1 Madrid.
20:58: As things stand, PSV, Marseille and Benfica (despite leading against Real Madrid) are all going out.
20:55: As things stand, the top eight is: Arsenal, Bayern, Liverpool, Man City, Real Madrid, Tottenham, PSG and Newcastle. Chelsea, Barcelona and Inter would go to a play-off if things stay the same.

20:47: Newcastle have equalised at PSG. Goal from Joe Willock. 1-1 right before the half.

20:43: Napoli now lead against Chelsea. It’s 2-1 after a goal from Rasmus Højlund. Chelsea now in real danger of missing out on the top 8.
20:40: Arsenal 3-1 Kairat. Gabriel Martinelli steals it on the line from Gyokeres.
20:38: Mourinho’s Benfica have equalised against Real Madrid after a header from Schlederup.
20:37: 2-0 Bayer Leverkusen – great finish from Tilman for his second of the night.
20:35: Bodo equalise against Atletico. 1-1 after goal from full-back Sjovold. That could have big implications.
20:34: Napoli equalise with an amazing goal from Vergara. His first senior goal. It’s 1-1. Wow. Chelsea out the top eight now. Diego Maradona would have been proud of that one.
20:31: Real Madrid lead at Benfica after another goal from Kylian Mbappé. 1-0 and 12 goals for him in the Champions League this season already.
20:29: Athletic Club 2-1 Sporting. Guruzeta with the goal.
20:28: After a brief lull in the goals, it’s 2-0 to Manchester City. Rayan Cherki doubling their lead with a lovely finish.

19:44: Kai Havertz is making his first Champions League start of the season for Arsenal tonight against Kairat Almaty. Manager Mikel Arteta said: “We have been missing him big time – he has been out for a long, long time. It is great to see him back.”
19:34: Manchester City boss Pep Guardiola, speaking to TNT Sports ahead of match against Galatasaray: “Last season we had to qualify for the last 24, and in the first half we were out. Today the situation is a little bit different. We have to win our game and wait. The determination is always there. I did not meet ever a player who before a game did not have the determination. It is always there. They always want to win, but sometimes the performance is not good or the opponent is better, so it is what it is.”
19:18: There were queues of Napoli supporters getting ready to enter the stadium over three hours before kick-off. The Stadio Diego Armando Maradona is famously one of the loudest atmospheres in world football and you would expect it to be on point tonight given this is a must-win match against Chelsea. Lose and they could crash out.

Both sides need a positive result to confirm their place in the top eight.
18:00: Manchester Cityneed a positive result to avoid the Champions League knockout play-offs tonight, and Galatasaray are far from the ideal opponent. In four recent meetings between Premier League clubs and the Turkish giants, Galatasaray are unbeaten. Last season, Pep Guardiola’s team were knocked out of the play-offs by Real Madrid. Could they find themselves back in the play-offs 12 months on?
