Alexis Sánchez has joined Major League Soccer club CF Montréal. The legendary Chilean forward, who will turn 38 this December, has signed a deal through the 2027 MLS sprint season with a club option for the 2027/28 season. "The arrival of Alexis Sánchez represents an important step in our sporting project," CF Montréal boss Luca Saputo said in a club statement. "Alexis possesses exceptional technical quality and experience at the highest level of world football. His personality, leadership and competitive mindset fully align with our club’s identity and ambitions. We are of the firm belief that he will have an immediate impact both on the field and in the locker room."
There is no doubt that Sánchez was once one of the biggest stars in world football. The forward scored 51 goals and played 168 games for his country, Chile. Indeed, Sánchez was one of the figureheads of a golden generation of Chilean players that reached their peak in 2015 and 2016 when his country won back-to-back Copa América titles. In 2018, Sánchez would reach his highest-ever market value of €70m while playing for Man United at the age of 29.
