Ross County relegated again? Or will Airdrie or Morton face drop?

It's relegation judgement night on the final Friday of the Scottish Championship season proper, with Morton, Airdrieonians and Ross County all at risk of being sucked into League 1 before the night is out.

Bottom side Ross County are at Raith Rovers – live on BBC Scotland – as they face the prospect of a double relegation after tumbling out of the Premiership last term.

Third bottom Morton host second bottom Airdrieonians in the other key match, with the BBC cameras delivering goal updates from Cappielow.

The theory is simple: the side that finishes bottom goes down, and the team in ninth enters the play-offs with three teams from League 1. Finish eighth, and you're safe.

But the reality could well be much more complex on a night of high drama.

County – among the pre-season title favourites – have the most to do. They are bottom on 34 points with a minus 20 goal difference. Anything other than a win in Fife will almost certainly condemn them to relegation.

Airdrieonians are on 35 points with a minus 14 goal difference and Morton are on 37 with a minus 16 goal difference.

County can take encouragement from the fact they have shown signs of life of late and have won their last two matches. Adding to the intrigue, Morton and Airdrieonians face each other at Cappielow.

The Diamonds are unbeaten in their last three, and saw off Ayr United 2-1 last weekend. In contrast, Morton are without a win in four. Three of those have also been defeats, including a 4-0 trouncing by County in Dingwall last weekend.

What is happening elsewhere?

Elsewhere in the division, Dunfermline and Arbroath begin a triple-header against each other.

They will meet twice next week in the quarter-finals of the Premiership play-offs – live across BBC Scotland on Tuesday and Friday.

Before then, they face off to decide who will finish third and have home advantage in the second leg of the play-off. If Arbroath avoid defeat, it will be them.

Partick Thistle are assured of second place and lie in wait in the play-off semi-final.

The Firhill side will have 10 days to recharge after they play Queen's Park, who know that victory would see them finish fifth if Raith lose against County.

Champions St Johnstone, meanwhile, sign off their triumphant campaign with a visit to seventh placed Ayr United.
