The Premier League’s dominance of European football continued throughout the 2025/26 season, with the English top-flight’s overall market value growing by 12% to an impressive €12.47 billion. That now means that the Premier League is worth more than the second and third most valuable leagues in the world combined, with LaLiga (€5.44b) and Serie A (€5.08b) struggling to keep up with the pace set by English football’s remarkable spending power in the transfer market.

Indeed, since June of 2025, Premier League clubs have added a collective €1.36b to their squads. The biggest increases came at Sunderland (+€214m), Chelsea (+€201m) and Bournemouth (+€156m) over the course of the league campaign, with untold millions set to be added to those figures as English clubs look to aggressively compete for the best talents in European football this summer. Just four clubs in the English top-flight – West Ham (-€38m), Aston Villa (-€61m), Tottenham Hotspur (-€66m), and Wolves (-€131m) ended the season with a lower squad market value than when they started it.

What should perhaps worry the rest of European football is not only how far out in front the Premier League is in comparison to the other top leagues, but the speed with which it seems to be breaking away from the rest of the chasing pack. The league’s 12% increase of the last 12 months is considerably higher than the growth shown in Serie A (+4%) or LaLiga (+2%), while the Bundesliga was able to match the Premier League’s growth of 12% but remains worth €7.34b less than its English counterpart.

The only major league to see a huge surge in growth outside of England was the French Ligue 1, which added an impressive €1.15b in market value to its combined squad market values. That works out at a very impressive 32% increase over the course of the season. However, €447m of that growth in market value was exclusively thanks to Paris Saint-Germain, who retained their European title and saw their squad increase its market value by an impressive 48%. As such, 39% of the growth shown in the French top-flight was entirely due to the Parisian club.
