Nathan Aké has left Manchester City to join Turkish giants Fenerbahce in a permanent transfer. The Netherlands international, currently playing at the World Cup with the Oranje squad, has decided to leave on a permanent deal after six glorious seasons in Manchester.

The 31-year-old has reportedly signed a three-year contract with the Süper Lig runners up and will link up with his new team-mates at their pre-season base in Austria after the conclusion of the World Cup. He is the fourth summer signing captured by the club, joining Sidiki Chérif, Vedat Muriqi and Adem Yeşilyurt in Istanbul.

While Fenerbahce did not publicly confirm the amount they have paid, it is understood they will be paying a fee of €8.1 million plus a further €1.75m in add-ons – some €2.15m below his €12m market value. A club statement read: "Our club has reached an agreement with and signed a contract with Nathan Aké, a player for the Dutch National Team. Aké, who will be playing in the 2026 FIFA World Cup, will join our team at the Austrian training camp after his leave of absence."

Having joined from Bournemouth for €45.3m in August 2020, Aké went on to make 177 appearances for City across six seasons. Working under Pep Guardiola proved to be a trophy-laden experience for the Chelsea trainee, collecting 12 pieces of silverware for his cabinet including four Premier League titles, a UEFA Champions League winners' medal, two FA Cups and one Club World Cup.

However, Aké has decided to move on after appearing to be surplus to requirements in 2025/26. He made just 18 Premier League appearances and spent 688 minutes on the pitch. He was used primarily as a rotational option, featuring heavily in the EFL Cup and FA Cup last term, and the Treble winner has opted to bid an emotional farewell to his former club.

“It’s been a privilege to represent Manchester City over the past six years and I’m so grateful to have been part of a special team,” he said. “I’ve grown so much here – as a player and a person and I’m thankful for the time I’ve had at the club. I’ll always cherish the memories, particularly of winning the Treble, being part of all four Premier League titles in a side that made history and triumphing in the Carabao Cup and FA Cup in my final season at the Club. While I’m moving on, I’m very proud of everything we’ve achieved together and City will always be special to me.”
