David Neres has returned to Antonio Conte’s squad for Napoli’s trip to Pisa, ending an absence of over four months and handing the Partenopei a timely boost as they look to seal Champions League qualification mathematically this weekend.

According to Sky Sport, via Goal.com, Neres will be among the convocated for Sunday’s match at the Cetilar Arena, though he is not expected to start.

Having been sidelined since early January, the Brazilian winger is likely to begin on the bench and could come on for a cameo depending on the match situation and his physical condition.

Neres returns from Achilles surgery as Napoli chase Champions League confirmation

The Brazilian suffered a left ankle injury during the Lazio-Napoli match on January 4, in what had been the best form of his season.

Subsequent examinations revealed an Achilles tendon problem that required surgery and ruled him out for the remainder of the winter and spring. His return ahead of the final two matches of the campaign is welcome news for Conte, especially for the visit to already-relegated Pisa.

Three points at the Cetilar Arena would book Napoli’s place in next season’s Champions League, making it effectively a must-win fixture regardless of results elsewhere.
