A refereeing scandal has been brewing in Serie A since yesterday, with referees designator Gianluca Rocchi under investigation for sporting fraud during games last season.
As part of the investigation, there have been claims that Rocchi also influenced the decision of hiring specific referees to favour Inter.
Corriere della Sera – via Calciomercato, make it clear that the Nerazzurri have expressed shock and annoyance at these accusations. Inter remain calm despite this, knowing that no one at the club has been involved as part of the scandal.
It is believed referee Andrea Colombo had a tense relationship with Simone Inzaghi. This is mainly because of a throw in that Bologna were allowed to take from 15 metres forward, when the Rossoblu beat Inter towards the end of last season. This played a role in Inzaghi’s side losing ground in the race for the Scudetto.
Inter feel they are in the middle of a power struggle amongst referees associations and they also see this as a larger political conflict.
