Emanuel Emegha (23) may have played his final match for RC Strasbourg Alsace, before making the move to Chelsea in the summer, Gary O’Neil has confirmed.
Emegha’s move to Chelsea, also owned by BlueCo, was confirmed back in September, much to the ire of the RCSA fans. The announcement, in their eyes, was particularly untimely, given that he had just been named club captain.
However, it has been a frustrating campaign for the Netherlands international. Injuries have limited the centre-forward to just 18 games in all competitions. In that time, he has scored eight goals. However, he may not get the chance to add to that total.
Speaking ahead of Thursday’s UEFA Europa Conference League semi-final second-leg against Rayo Vallecano, O’Neil confirmed that Emegha had sustained a hamstring injury that would rule him out of the two remaining gameweeks in Ligue 1.
The Englishman added that there was “maybe a chance” of Emegha returning for the Europa Conference League final. However, for that to be the case, Le Racing must first reach the final by overturning a one-goal deficit from the first leg.
