De Laurentiis rejected an offer to buy Napoli
The report claims that the proposal was made by a group led by Matt Rizzetta, President of Serie C side Campobasso and Napoli Basket and Founder & Managing Partner of private equity firm Underdog Global Partners.
Negotiations between Napoli and Rizzetta’s team did not result in an agreement and were even suspended before the due diligence phase.
De Laurentiis, in fact, is unwilling to sell Napoli and wants to remain at the helm of the club that will celebrate its 100th anniversary in 2027.
Corriere dello Sport said they had contacted Rizzetta, who initially postponed the chat by one hour, and then replied through the Capobasso press office, stating that he had no comments on the matter and was unaware of such negotiations.
Rizzetta has also been linked with the acquisition of Reggina, but Campobasso reiterated with an official statement on Friday that the Italian-American businessman will remain committed to the club.
