Andreas Christensen is one of the FC Barcelona players whose current contract stands to expire at the end of the season.
The Danish centre-back is currently sidelined with an injury, and given his situation, Barça have considered offering him a one-year renewal, albeit with a significant salary reduction.
Still no agreement
Now, according to AS, Christensen’s situation has become increasingly complex. Barcelona want to renew his contract, the player wants to stay, but no agreement has been reached so far.
Both Barcelona and Christensen want to extend the contract. The Dane wishes to remain, while the club aim to avoid losing him on a free transfer and potentially retain value through a future sale, although Hansi Flick has not ruled him out as part of the defensive core.
However, from that point, their positions diverge along paths that do not appear easy to reconcile.

The disagreement lies in the terms of renewal. Barcelona have offered a significantly reduced contract compared to his current salary, and his representatives do not appear to agree.
Moreover, Barcelona are prepared to offer, at most, one additional year on his contract, which is another point of difference between the parties.
At the end of this situation, both sides share the same objective, continuity, but agreement remains difficult to reach.
Christensen joined from Chelsea on a free transfer in 2022 and was a key player in the league title won under Xavi Hernandez three seasons ago.
Prior to his knee ligament tear, the 30-year-old defender had played 17 games across all competitions this season, even chipping in with a goal.
