Despite facing an uncertain at San Siro, Josep Martinez emerged as one of Inter Milan heroes in last night’s win over Como.
Speaking to TMW via FCInter1908, his agent Sergio Barilla praised his client’s qualities after an impressive performance in the Coppa Italia.
Josep Martinez has had to settle for playing second fiddle to Swiss veteran Yann Sommer since joining the club from Genoa in 2024.
However, Cristian Chivu has made the 27-year-old his starting goalkeeper in the Coppa Italia this season.
Furthermore, Martinez came up huge in yesterday’s stunning 3-2 comeback victory against Cesc Fabregas’ side.
Indeed, he pulled off two crucial second-half saves to help Inter overcome a two-goal deficit and secure a spot in the grand final.
Nevertheless, the Spanish shot-stopper could leave San Siro in the summer, with Inter vying for a new number one.

In addition to praising his client for a brilliant display, Barilla insisted that Martinez’s playing time depends solely on Chivu.
“I can only say that I’m very happy for the player,” he said. “I have no doubts about his abilities. He’s very strong. I hope the club and the fans are happy with him as well.
“Whether he plays or not depends on the coach. We must always respect his decisions. Josep can only keep working hard.
“He has to be ready at all times and wait for his moment. We’re talking about the present and the future of football.
“The past cannot be forgotten or changed, but you have to be mentally strong to look ahead.”
With Sommer set to leave the club as a free agent in June, Inter are in the market for a new goalkeeper.
Moreover, they’ve already identified Tottenham Hotspur star Guglielmo Vicario as an ideal candidate to replace the former Bayern Munich stopper.
Therefore, Martinez could part ways with the Nerazzurri in the summer to secure regular first-team football.
