The World Cup finally came to its conclusion on Sunday when Spain were crowned world champions for a second time. Following the tournament, Transfermarkt has updated the market values of 99 players who stood out at this summer’s World Cup in North America. As usual in major tournament updates, there were no downgrades; instead, players were rewarded for their tournament performances and also developments on the transfer market itself which we have witnessed so far this summer. So after many big changes at the top, let’s take a look at the latest top 50 most valuable footballers in the world. The full list can be scrolled through below.
The top 50 players in the world ranked by market value
Players on the same value are ranked by youngest first. Now leading the way as the joint-most valuable player in TM history is Spain and Barcelona teenager Lamine Yamal. He received a +€20m increase after winning the World Cup putting his new value to a historic €220m. Manchester City and Norway striker Erling Haaland also received a +€20m increase to €220m after scoring seven goals at this summer’s tournament. Real Madrid’s Kylian Mbappé bagged the Golden Boot with France and saw his market value increase by +€20m back to €200m – putting him third.
Michael Olise now fourth having received a +€20m upgrade to €170m after getting the most assists at this summer’s World Cup. Jude Bellingham shone for England and subsequently received a +€30m upgrade to €160m – making him the fifth most valuable footballer in the World. Spain and Barcelona’s Pedri (€150m) is fifth, with the Paris Saint-Germain trio of João Neves, Khvicha Kvaratskhelia and Vitinha in seventh, eighth and ninth respectively – all valued at €140m. Vinicius Junior (€140m) completes the top 10.
Désiré Doué, Julián Alvarez and Declan Rice are all worth €120m, with a +€20m increase for the Argentina forward in the World Cup update. Morgan Rogers and Elliot Anderson both sealed mega money transfers this summer and both are now worth €110m after a +€20m increase for Rogers and a +€35m increase for Anderson. Bukayo Saka is also worth €110m, with Spain defender Pau Cubarsí now the joint most expensive defender in the world at €100m after a +€20m increase.
