The summer transfer window has officially opened and while the main attention is on the World Cup, clubs are working away on major deals. For most clubs, planning will already be complete and they will have identified which players they want to sign, and which players they want to sell.

Barcelona are once again set to test Atletico Madrid’s resolve by making an offer for Julian Alvarez. The LaLiga club released a statement insisting the Argentina international, 26, would not be sold for a fee lower than his €500 million release clause. However, Barca believe a bid of around €130m may be enough to get the deal done.

Manchester City and Tottenham are keen on Sporting CP winger Francisco Trincão, who briefly played for Wolves. The Portuguese winger has been linked with a €50m move to Al-Ahli, but he would prefer to stay in Europe and reports in his homeland suggest he could return to the Premier League.

Manchester United are looking to sign a goalkeeper to compete with Senne Lammens for the number one shirt. Paraguay stopper Orlando Gill, who impressed for the South American nation at the World Cup, has emerged as a target and can be signed for €6m due to a release clause written into his contract at San Lorenzo.
