The group stages are over. The real jeopardy now begins. Canada and South Africa got the 2026 World Cup knockout stages underway on Sunday evening, with the North American side progressing to the last 16 thanks to an injury-time winner. And there is plenty more mouth-watering ties taking place in the round of 32 this week. But which club sides remain the most affected by this summer’s festival of football? Transfermarkt has calculated the clubs with the most players remaining at this summer’s World Cup as of Monday June 29.

Which clubs have most players still at the World Cup?

Leading the way are Premier League runners up Manchester City. The Sky Blues still have 18 players remaining at this summer’s World Cup for a total of 11 nations, including Erling Haaland, Rayan Cherki and Nico O’Reilly. Second place goes to German giants Bayern Munich, who have 16 players still at the tournament – six of which represent Germany. Third goes to Premier League champions Arsenal, who have 15 players in the World Cup knockouts. They are followed by Champions League winners Paris Saint-Germain in fourth with 14 players. Barcelona complete the top five with 13 players.

Surprisingly, Crystal Palace actually take sixth position, with 12 players still remaining at the World Cup. Atlético Madrid are seventh with 11 players. Serie A’s AC Milan and the Bundesliga’s Borussia Dortmund share eighth position, having 10 players each remaining at this summer’s tournament. There are then five teams who still have nine players at the World Cup: Al Ahly, Chelsea, Liverpool, Manchester United and Sunderland.
