According to Milannews, Gerry Cardinale has openly admitted that Rafael Leao can leave in the summer, upsetting the Portuguese winger, who is currently unwilling to consider offers from Turkey or the Saudi Pro League.
Milanews reports that Milan winger Leao is dissatisfied with Cardinale’s recent comments to some members of the Italian press during a meeting in Milan on Monday.
Latest updates on Leao’s transfer
According to the report, Cardinale answered questions ‘off the record’ about Milan’s future plans, admitting that Leao is no longer part of the Rossoneri’s project.
Milannews reports that Leao was disappointed to hear the club owner’s stance, yet the Portuguese is currently focused on the World Cup, after which he’ll decide his future.
Red Bird’s Senior Advisor Zlatan Ibrahimovic is the only survivor of the club’s major overhaul, which saw Milan part ways with coach Massimiliano Allegri and directors Giorgio Furlani, Igli Tare and Geoffrey Moncada.
Leao has two years left in his contract at San Siro and both Gazzetta and Milannews report that the 26-year-old has attracted interest from Galatasaray and Fenerbahce.
According to Gazzetta, Galatasaray are ready to offer a €10m-a-year contract, but Milannews suggests that Leao is currently unwilling to consider offers outside the top five European leagues, especially the English Premier League and Spain’s La Liga.
