Serie A is gaining momentum across North America, especially in Canada, and interest in the Azzurri is rising just as quickly.
Jonathan David’s move to Juventus and Ismael Koné’s transfer to Sassuolo in the 2025 summer transfer window have only boosted the number of Serie A fans in Canada, a country that is also preparing to co-host the 2026 World Cup, the biggest football event ever staged.

The former defender moved to the USA after hanging up his boots, becoming the coach of Miami FC from 2015 to 17. He then returned to Italy to take charge of Perugia, Frosinone, Reggiana and Monza.
Surely, there’s plenty of connection between Italian football and Canada, not just because over 1,500,000 Canadians (4.3% of the total population) have reported full or partial Italian ancestry, but also because of the many stars moving between the two countries to play the beautiful game.
Too bad that the two national teams’ proposed meeting in the 2026 World Cup Group B will never happen, as the Azzurri have failed to qualify for the competition for the third time in a row.
