Real Madrid are mapping out their structure for next season, and while uncertainty surrounds Alvaro Arbeloa in the dugout, the club appear determined to keep him within their long-term project.
Recent developments from Defensa Central suggest that even if Arbeloa does not continue as first-team manager, he will not be shown the exit door.
Instead, the hierarchy is exploring ways to integrate him into a different role within the club’s structure.
Managerial position hanging by a thread
Arbeloa’s situation has become increasingly fragile following disappointing results.
The team’s early exit from Europe and a fading La Liga challenge have significantly weakened his position.
At this stage, only an extraordinary turnaround could change the story and that scenario looks highly unlikely.
Despite this, Real Madrid’s position is not one of complete rejection, as the club still value Arbeloa’s understanding of their philosophy and his connection to the institution.
Keen to retain his influence
Within Real Madrid, there is a clear appreciation for Arbeloa’s work, particularly behind the scenes.
Hence, rather than parting ways, the board is considering how best to utilise his strengths in a non-coaching capacity if required.
As per the outlet, one possibility under discussion is placing him in charge of the youth academy.

This would allow him to continue nurturing emerging talent, an area where he has already made a strong impact.
Another option is a liaison role, acting as a bridge between the dressing room, the board, and the next manager, acting as the new director of the youth academy.
From Castilla promise to first-team struggles
Arbeloa’s rise to the senior bench came after an encouraging spell with Castilla, where he guided the side into promotion contention.
His appointment to the first team followed the dismissal of Xabi Alonso, with expectations that he could carry over that momentum.
However, replicating that success at the highest level has proven far more difficult.
Results have been inconsistent, and the team’s record, seven defeats in 21 matches, has not met the standards expected at a club of this stature.
A strong legacy with youth development
Where Arbeloa has excelled is in his commitment to developing young players, as his familiarity with the club’s academy system has allowed several prospects to step into the spotlight.
His willingness to promote youth has been one of the few bright spots during an otherwise challenging spell.
Now, with a summer overhaul on the horizon, Real Madrid appear ready to make a change in the managerial position.
Still, the door remains open for Arbeloa to continue contributing in a different capacity.
