Exeter City winger Ilmari Niskanen's leadership has been praised by interim manager Matt Taylor.

The 28-year-old Finland international set up Exeter's second goal in their dramatic 3-3 draw with Stockport County on Saturday, which saw City goalkeeper Jack Bycroft score a stoppage-time equaliser.

The draw kept them within two points of AFC Wimbledon as the Grecians try to move out of the final League One relegation spot.

Niskanen, whose contract runs out in the summer, has provided 13 assists and scored two goals this season.

"He's huge and he typifies the character of the group," Taylor told BBC Radio Devon.

"He's not perfect in any way; there's certain moments in the game, but he just runs and runs and runs.

"He never says a word, but he's a leader within the group; people just follow him in terms of his actions.

"I want and need more of them and the team needs more of them, but he's an inspirational figure and I think he's had the reward of his best season to date in terms of goal contributions."
