The future of Robert Lewandowski will be crucial in determining Barcelona’s roadmap for the summer ahead.
The veteran striker has been an extraordinary servant since joining the club in 2026. But even though he will turn 38 by the start of next season, the club are ready to hand him a one-year contract extension, albeit with a substantially lower salary.
The lower terms offered does not quite excite Lewandowski, who has been linked with moves to MLS, Inter Milan and Juventus, with the latter emerging as a potential frontrunner.
Key meeting in May
That said, the possibility of Lewandowski’s contract extension at Barcelona has not been completely ruled out either, reports Mundo Deportivo.
That is because Lewandowski’s agent, Pini Zahavi, is set to meet Barcelona representatives in early May to discuss contract terms with the Catalan outfit.

The two parties are expected to talk about the exact terms of the new deal. Lewandowski, for his part, is aware of the fact that Barcelona are ready to hand him a one-year extension.
The Pole has never rejected Barcelona’s advances either. But he has simply chosen to wait until he explores all the other options, including potential moves to Juventus or AC Milan.
The report suggests Zahavi will arrive in Barcelona with the intention to attract an offer that befits the quality and calibre of Lewandowski, even though the player will turn 38 by the start of next season.
Depends on how that conversation goes, the former Bayern Munich striker will either stay and complete five years at Barcelona or consider other offers he has received from clubs elsewhere.
