Zlatan Ibrahimovic is set to have a busy summer away from Milan, but the Swede is not expected to step into the ring with former boxing heavyweight champion of the World Tyson Fury, despite appearing to announce a bout with the Gypsy King on social media.

Ibrahimovic is a senior advisor to RedBird Capital Partners, the investment management firm that owns Milan. Technically, Ibrahimovic is not directly employed by the club, despite his role being largely on the ground in Italy.
That means, that despite the club’s plans for a busy summer of transfer activity, Ibrahimovic is not obliged to be in the building at Milanello, which is why he is available for punditry duty with FOX Sports for the duration of the 2026 World Cup.
On Thursday, Ibrahimovic took to Instagram, and appeared to announce some sort of fight against Fury. The pair posed for pictures together and posted to social media with the caption: “Breaking news! It’s on August 1! Dublin, Ireland.”
According to reports from La Gazzetta dello Sport, however, there is no chance of Ibrahimovic and Fury stepping into the ring and fighting each other, even in some form of exhibition.
Instead, Zlatan’s post is more likely to reference the IBO World super-lightweight title fight between Pierce O’Leary and Mark Chamberlain, which is taking place in Dublin on August 1. O’Leary is represented by Frank Warren, who also represents Fury.
Meanwhile, back in Milan, RedBird’s managing director Gerry Cardinale is expected to visit in the coming days to assess the 2025-26 season, sit down for talks with Massimiliano Allegri and potentially to restructure the senior management of the club.
