Former Chelsea, Arsenal and Roma left-back Ashley Cole has recently been appointed as the head coach of Serie B side Cesena, but why has the former England assistant decided to move to the Italian second division at this stage of his coaching career?
On Sunday afternoon, it was confirmed that 107-time England international Cole has been appointed as the head coach of Serie B outfit Cesena on a short-term contract until the end of the 2025-26 season. This is Cole’s first job as a head coach at senior level.
Cesena currently find themselves in eighth place in the Serie B table with eight games of the season left to go, which is enough for them to be in the mix for promotion given that teams from third down to eighth place will compete in the play-offs.
