Already a two-time trophy-winner this season, Ivan Toney could conclude the campaign with arms wrapped around another piece of hallowed hardware.
The Al Ahli striker starred in his side’s 3-1 victory at home to Al Fateh on Wednesday night, his treble in Jeddah featuring two typically poised penalties and another predatory finish.
The hat-trick represented Toney’s fourth of the Roshn Saudi League season, as he became the fourth person to achieve that feat in a single campaign in the Saudi Pro League era.

The pair, in fact, have combined to contribute to another RSL record: the 18 hat-tricks through 2025-26 constitutes the most trebles in one campaign, trumping the 17 from two seasons ago.

Speaking of tops, Wednesday’s work propelled Toney to the head of the 2025-26 RSL’s scoring charts. The Englishman has jumped to 30 goals, leapfrogging Al Qadsiah hotshot Julian Quinones by one. Ronaldo, it must be said, is five back in his hunt for a record-equalling third successive golden boot.
But, for Toney, and while team success is always prioritised over individual, the opportunity to finish the season as the league’s prize marksmen forms a very nice side hustle. Especially in a campaign bookmarked by lifting both the Saudi Super Cup and a second successive AFC Champions League Elite Crown.
