Swansea City Women will attempt to ensure three retiring players bow out in style in Sunday's Bute Energy Welsh Cup final against Cardiff City Women (17:00 BST).

Long-serving striker Stacey John, centre-back Steph Turner and left-back Lucy Finch will bid farewell to the semi-professional game this weekend.

And midfielder Maddy Murray, one of the Swans' star performers this season, says Yzzy Taylor's team are hungry to give the trio of "amazing role models" a farewell to remember at Rodney Parade.

"To be able to give them a good game to send-off is ultimately what everyone on the pitch wants to do," the 19-year-old said.

"I'm sure all three of them want to go out with a good game as well, so it's definitely given us that extra motivation to perform and hopefully give them the send-off they deserve."

John, 34, will make her 250th and final appearance for Swansea having been at the club for 14 years.

Turner, 35, is in her second spell with the Swans while fellow former Cardiff Met player Finch is calling time on her career at the age of just 27.

Swansea will start as underdogs against a Cardiff side looking to win the Welsh Cup for the fifth time in succession having overcome Wrexham, this season’s Adran Premier champions, at the semi-final stage.

Cardiff finished second in the league to Wrexham with Swansea, who have not won the Welsh Cup since 2018, in third.

But in five meetings between the two south Wales clubs this season – four in the league plus one in the Genero Adran Trophy – the Bluebirds have registered five victories.

Swansea have made progress this season, the first full campaign with Taylor at the helm, having failed to finish in the top half in 2024-25.

But there were four successive Adran Premier defeats before they ended the league season with a morale-boosting win at Wrexham earlier this month.

"I think that's going to really help us to come into this cup final and show that we can win some silverware," added Murray.

"Cardiff are a great team but the last couple of times we played them, we could have come away with something and I think we were unlucky not to.

"I think it'll be a very tight, close game but I think we've put all the plans in place that we think will mean we can go out and get the trophy."
