Inter midfielder Petar Sucic is ‘happy’ to hear comparisons with his compatriot Marcelo Brozovic and wants to remain at San Siro for a long time, aiming to make ‘a big leap’ and win more trophies.

Inter have secured a domestic double by winning the Serie A title and the Coppa Italia.

The Nerazzurri beat Lazio 2-0 in the Coppa Italia Final on Wednesday.

Sucic is in his first season at the Stadio Meazza and is delighted with the team’s achievements this term.

“I’m lucky to play for this amazing club,” he said at a post-match press conference attended by Football Italia last night.

“I can play everywhere to help the team, and in the end, the most important thing is to win the games. Doesn’t matter where I play, I don’t have a favourite position.”

The Croatia international has earned comparisons with his compatriot Brozovic this season.

“Brozovic is a great player. I only have good words for him. I’m happy when they compare him to me,” Sucic said.

“I try to do my best to help the team. The more you play, the better you get. I’m happy with this first year, and I hope to do big things with Inter in the future.”

The Nerazzurri will celebrate with their fans on Sunday, lifting the Scudetto trophy at San Siro after a home Serie A game against Hellas Verona.

After the match, there will also be an open-top bus parade in the streets of Milan.

“I’ll take this opportunity to send a message to fans,” Sucic said.

“Amazing numbers in the stadiums and in the city. We need all people in Milan to be Nerazzurri.

“I saw how important it is for the people in Milan and the fans. They stay with us and support us. I’m glad to play with this amazing club. It’s a special feeling, in my first year here. I’m so happy.”

Cristian Chivu has won two trophies in his first full Serie A season as a coach. How important was the Nerazzurri boss’s work, especially after a 2024-25 campaign in which the Nerazzurri ended without trophies?

“I don’t think it’s only Chivu. He had the biggest impact, but it was also with the players,” Sucic replied.

“We started the new season. The coach helps us a lot. We came from a difficult season, but when the new campaign started, there were new trophies at stake. We won two, and next season we’ll aim for more. You can talk about private life with him; he’s a good person.”

Lastly, Sucic confirmed that he wouldn’t be looking for a new club in the summer.

“As I said, I’m happy we won two trophies, and I want to make a big leap in the future,” he concluded.

“I’m so happy in Milan, everyone knows. There will be changes, but the situation is similar.”
