The Steelers placed the seldom-used UFA tender on quarterback Aaron Rodgers on Tuesday, which preserves Pittsburgh’s right to receive a compensatory draft pick in the event that Rodgers signs with another team before July 22.

If Rodgers, who is an unrestricted free agent, does not sign with another team before then, he would only be permitted to sign with the Steelers.

The tender carries a 10% raise off last year's salary, which would pay Rodgers about $15 million for the 2026 season.

Rodgers, who spent the 2025 season with the Steelers after a prolonged offseason courtship, has been weighing his options for the upcoming season over the past three months.

Steelers general manager Omar Khan and coach Mike McCarthy indicated last week that there isn't a timeline or a deadline to hear from the 42-year-old quarterback.

The Steelers selected quarterback Drew Allar in the third round of the NFL draft, but McCarthy said the move was unrelated to Rodgers’ decision.

ESPN's Adam Schefter contributed to this report.
