Although the Reds' chances of playing in the Champions League is starting to solidify, there's still a chance that they may not make it into Europe's premier competition.
At the moment, the Anfield outfit are fourth in the Premier League and are level on points with fifth-placed Aston Villa.
Man United are just slightly ahead of them with 61 points to their name.
So, if Liverpool manage to beat their rivals on Sunday, they could end up going above them due to goal difference.
However, for one of Arne Slot’s stars, this clash could have a lot more meaning as it could genuinely be his last chance to prove his worth as a Liverpool player.
Alexander Isak's latest injury could provide Federico Chiesa with the chance of a lifetime
Alexander Isak and Federico Chiesa have both been spoken about a lot this season.
Isak has been out for most of the campaign with multiple injuries and Chiesa has just been looked over far too many times.
However, a fresh update from DaveOCKOP has detailed that Isak could end up missing Sunday’s game against United with a new injury.
"Alexander Isak is set to miss Liverpool vs Man United. He is expected to be out for a 1-2 weeks approximately,” he wrote via his personal X account.
This wouldn't be all that much of a problem under usual circumstances but, since Hugo Ekitike and Mohamed Salah are already going to be absent due to injury, the Reds are left with very few options to choose from.
For most of Liverpool's players, this is a massive blow but, since Chiesa is fit and can play anywhere across the front three, this could be his chance to finally show Slot what he's been missing by not starting the Italy international.
Federico Chiesa's Liverpool future is on the line
When Chiesa joined Liverpool last season for a fee worth around £10 million, most fans, pundits and journalists expected him to be the bargain of the window.
Indeed, he has managed to contribute to a few goals during his time as a Liverpool player but, more often than not, he's performed well below expectations.
This lack of form has resulted in many transfer rumours emerging about his future with Juventus constantly getting linked with an interest in their former player.
Chiesa has already had multiple options to exit Anfield but, for some reason, he's chosen to stick around, even though he's barely had any playing time.
But, now that the Reds' attacking options are wearing thin, Slot's hand could be forced into starting the 'special’ attacker and, if he manages to score a goal or two, he could go down in Liverpool folklore for years to come.
Here's hoping that the Italian can finally prove his worth and step up, otherwise, it could be curtains for him and his chances of being a regular first-teamer for the Anfield outfit.
