Manager Marvin Bartley says keeping Livingston in the Scottish Premiership this season would rank as the finest achievement of his career.

The West Lothian side host Aberdeen on Friday (19:45 BST) and remain nine points adrift at the foot of the table with just four games to play.

They could suffer relegation this weekend if 11th-placed Kilmarnock better their result, when the Ayrshire club host Dundee United on Saturday.

However, Livingston have been boosted by ending a long winless run with a victory against St Mirren last weekend – just their second win of the Premiership campaign.

Bartley – who took over from David Martindale in February – drew parallels with his playing days at Bournemouth.

In the 2008-09 season, he was part of a squad that avoided relegation from England's fourth tier despite suffering a 17-point deduction after the club entered administration.

"It would be the best thing I've ever achieved in football," Bartley said of potentially guiding Livingston to survival.

"At Bournemouth we started on minus 17 and still survived. That took some doing.

"We didn't really care about the league table – it was just the next game. There's no point looking when you're so far behind."

Despite the prospect of relegation this weekend, Bartley insists his attention is fixed solely on Friday's fixture against an Aberdeen side who have won their past two games.

He acknowledged the impact of the visitors new manager Stephen Robinson, noting tactical changes and improved attacking movement.

"He's put his own stamp on the team. They've got really good players and they're in a good place," he said.

While four wins from Livingston's remaining matches could yet offer a route to safety, Bartley admits he is not calculating potential outcomes.

"No idea if that would be enough," he added. "All we can do is try to win the next game."

Meanwhile, midfielder Macauley Tait said last weekend's victory has lifted spirits around the club amid a challenging campaign.

"It was nice," he said. "We'd almost forgotten that feeling. It's been tough for us, the staff and the fans, so hopefully we can finish on a positive."
