Arsenal will clash heads with Atletico Madrid at the Wanda Metropolitano on Wednesday night as they look to secure a good result in the first leg of their UEFA Champions League semifinal clash. The Gunners managed to earn a narrow 1-0 win over Newcastle United recently, so they would be full of confidence going into this game in midweek.

Mikel Arteta will set his men up in a 4-3-3 formation and is expected to make some tweaks to his first-team for this clash. Bukayo Saka, Viktor Gyokeres and Gabriel Martinelli could get a chance to play from the start of this game.

Defence

David Raya will play in goal for the Gunners after he kept a clean sheet in his last outing. William Saliba will function alongside Gabriel at the heart of the Arsenal backline as they look to keep things solid on the defensive end of the field.

Ben White will try to catch the eye as the right-back, while Piero Hincapie looks to give a good account of himself on the other side as the left-back. Both of them will get the license to go forward and express themselves inside the opponent’s half.

Cristhian Mosquera and Myles Lewis-Skelly will provide cover for the defensive positions on the bench.

Midfield

Declan Rice, Martin Zubimendi and Martin Odegaard will make up Arteta’s midfield. All three of them need to be at their best if the Gunners are to come out on top in midweek.

Eberechi Eze will have to settle for a spot on the bench as he waits for his chance to shine in the second 45 minutes if required.

Attack

Leandro Trossard will try to prove his worth on the left flank, while Bukayo Saka looks to impress as the right-sided wide player. Both of them will try to make some overlapping runs out in the wide areas.

Viktor Gyokeres will spearhead Arsenal‘s attack up top. He has to find a way to cause a lot of problems for the opposition centre-backs this Wednesday night.

Gabriel Jesus, Noni Madueke and Max Dowman will have to be content with a spot on the bench and might come on to influence the game in the latter stages if required.
