Saint-Étienne look to extend Lucas Stassin’s contract

Lucas Stassin (21) was seemingly desperate to leave AS Saint-Étienne last summer, following the club’s relegation back to Ligue 2. The Belgium international was notably the subject of interest from Paris FC, as well as other clubs from across Europe, but the wealth of Les Verts’ new owners meant that the club were in a position to retain the centre-forward as they lodged their attempt to return to Ligue 1.

With just four gameweeks remaining in Ligue 2, ASSE are on course to do just that. The club currently sit second, one point behind ESTAC Troyes and three points above Le Mans FC in third. Should the club complete their objective, Mohamed Toubache-Terunderstands that they will attempt to extend Stassin’s deal, which currently runs until 2028.

Stassin is likely to go to this summer’s FIFA World Cup with Belgium and the striker could attract interest, but in the event of promotion, Saint-Étienne are desperate to retain him.
