Vitor Matos says rival clubs are interested in Swansea City striker Zan Vipotnik – but insists that is “normal” given the striker’s form this season.

Vipotnik is the Championship's leading goalscorer with 21 goals in 40 second-tier games.

The 24-year-old has also netted two cup goals as well as three for Slovenia in what has been an eye-catching campaign.

Reports in Portugal this week suggested Sporting and Jose Mourinho's Benfica are among the sides monitoring Vipotnik, who has also been linked with a handful of English clubs and was on the radar of sides across Europe last summer.

"He's a good player scoring goals so I believe there's interest of other clubs, that's normal," said Swansea head coach Matos.

"[But there is] nothing new from our side, there was no-one coming here asking something, so we just keep training.

"He's training well. That's the most important thing, that he keeps doing that, focuses on the season, focuses on what he can improve, focuses on trying to help the team to fulfil our goals and our next goal is to beat Southampton."

Vipotnik joined from Bordeaux in 2024 and scored only seven goals during his first season at Swansea, who host Southampton on Saturday (15:00 BST).

The Swans were ready to let him leave last summer, only for his bright start to this season to trigger a change of heart.

That has proved a smart decision, with Vipotnik establishing himself as one of the biggest assets in the second tier.

Swansea strengthened their hand in any potential transfer negotiations this summer by handing Vipotnik a new long-term contract last month.

Matos, who believes it would take “proper money” to convince Swansea to sell Vipotnik, says the Welsh club will wait and see what the summer window brings.

"The only thing I said before and I keep saying is we offered him a contract, he accepted the contract, he's happy here, we are really happy with him," Matos added.

"The market, we don't know, it's like that. That's the story of the clubs in the position we are in, so let's see where it goes.

"At the moment we are all really happy, it is a really happy marriage, so let's keep going like that."
