Director of sport Igli Tare had already hinted following the 3-2 home defeat to Atalanta that the club could impose a training retreat to get the team focused.

They risk throwing away Champions League qualification after sliding down from second to fourth place, on level terms with Roma, with a run of just seven points from eight rounds.

According to MilanNews, Sky Sport Italia and more, the decision has been made to put the players into a camp from Wednesday.

It comes after the Serie A Week 37 fixture list was confirmed, with Milan’s visit to Genoa kicking off at 11.30 UK time (12.30 CEST) on Sunday.

In these training retreats, the players are kept at lodgings inside the training ground, so they are not allowed to go home and see their families.

These are sometimes used as punishment for poor performances, but nominally are supposed to allow the players to focus fully on their work and create a sense of unity within the group.
