Kylian Mbappe’s recent trip to Italy with his romantic partner has riled up the Spanish media, so much so that his commitment to the club was directly questioned.
Multiple outlets came out to claim that the Frenchman’s decision to travel while injured was a mark of poor sportsmanship, especially at a time when Real Madrid are on the verge of losing La Liga.
Concurrently, there were reports that the club themselves were frustrated with the star forward and his trip with El Clasico just around the corner.
The club’s permission
As reported by Defensa Central in a recent report, Mbappe simply does not understand the criticism around his trip and supposed lack of commitment. After all, he travelled to Italy with permission from the club.
Indeed, Real Madrid’s hierarchy and administration were well aware of the player’s getaway to Italy, and it was only after the club agreed to it that he travelled.
In fact, he complied with the prescribed work plan strictly despite not being in Madrid the entire time.

There will be no punishment from the club towards the player, given that they themselves had sanctioned his leave.
Within Real Madrid, the report adds, nobody questions Mbappe or his commitment as he even worked on his recovery while on vacation.
The player feels hard done by the criticism around him and feels that it is being exacerbated and that he does not deserve it after all he has done this season.
He admits that he should not have exposed himself to cameras in Italy, but believes he did no wrong in taking his vacation.
Real Madrid, for their part, remain in complete support of the French superstar and believe that the reality of the situation is far from what is being projected in the media.
It remains to be seen if Mbappe plays any part in the upcoming El Clasico and whether he will be fit for the game.
