Earlier today, news broke that Alvaro Arbeloa’s appointment at Real Madrid is not just an interim arrangement but the administration’s sincere hope for the start of a long-term project.
The former Castilla manager has signed a deal that sees him hold the reins of the first team beyond June, and he could well have a longer spell on the sidelines if the results back him.
Yet, it is safe to say that Real Madrid are keeping a keen eye on other elite managers available on the market for a potential situation in June where a new, powerful manager is required in the dressing room.
Klopp is an option
As forwarded by Fabrizio Romano in a recent update, there are many top figures in Real Madrid who seriously appreciate and admire everything that Jurgen Klopp stands for as a manager.
They value his ability to control the dressing room, get his ideas through and even handle the press with poise.
He has, however, taken a sabbatical from coaching and is currently in an administrative role. Should he return to coaching or show signs of interest hinting at a return, he will definitely be an option for Los Blancos.

Needless to say, however, the earliest that such a situation can occur is in June, and it is completely dependent on Klopp’s stance on a return to management and his idea of the Real Madrid job.
The Real Madrid target was one of the first to come out and express his shock over Alonso’s sacking and blamed the club’s administration and players for allowing the situation to turn so sour.
“First of all, I think it’s another sign that something isn’t quite right there at the moment.”
“If Xabi Alonso, who over the last two years in Leverkusen has shown what an outstanding coaching talent he is, is then forced to leave Madrid just six months later, it shows a few things,” he added.
Needless to say, he knows well the pressure and criticism that comes with the Real Madrid job and it thus remains to be seen if he is open to it at this point in his career.
