Real Madrid are fully immersed in their search for a new manager to take over from current head coach Alvaro Arbeloa at the end of the season.

The former defender is all set to be relieved of his duties just six months after replacing Xabi Alonso after failing to guide the team to a trophy.

Jurgen Klopp and Jose Mourinho have emerged as the frontrunners for the Real Madrid job as things stand, but other candidates continue to be discussed within the club.

Now, according to journalist Joaquin Maroto (via Ramon Alvarez), Real Madrid also happen to admire former Morocco manager Walid Regragui.

The 50-year-old tactician has been without a job since March 2026 when he stepped down as the Morocco head coach.

Within the offices at Real Madrid, there is admiration for Regragui for his personality and the job he did with the national team. In fact, the journalist indicates that Regragui is spoken about more than Mourinho at Valdebebas.

Regragui spent close to four years in charge of the Moroccan national team. Prior to that, he spent a season at Wydad Casablanca before he which he was at Al-Duhail in Qatar after having spent six years at FUS Rabat.

Regragui would be available to take over immediately at the end of the season and there would be no need to pay any release clause for him either.

However, despite the admiration of Real Madrid towards him, it is unlikely that the former Moroccan footballer is seen in the running for the job.
