The future of Marcus Rashford has taken a sharp turn in recent months. The English forward, currently on loan at FC Barcelona from Manchester United, was once seen as likely to remain at the Catalan club next season.
However, the situation has shifted significantly, and his return to Old Trafford at the end of the current campaign is now considered almost certain.
Tottenham – Rashford’s next destination?
Now, according to SPORT, Tottenham Hotspur are seriously considering a move for Rashford in the summer, with a permanent transfer to Barcelona now seemingly off the cards.
Despite never fully securing a regular starting role, Rashford delivered a solid first half of the season. By January, he had scored ten goals.
Since then, however, he has managed just two more and has fallen short of expectations, particularly when called upon to cover for the injured Raphinha in recent weeks. This dip in form, combined with his high salary, has complicated matters for Barcelona.
The club is prioritising reinforcements at centre-forward and left-sided central defence, and as a result, their initial intention to activate the €30 million purchase option for Rashford has now been abandoned.

Further evidence of his uncertain future at the Spotify Camp Nou is seen in recent tactical decisions by head coach Hansi Flick. In Raphinha’s absence, he has opted to deploy players such as Fermin Lopez and Gavi on the left flank instead of Rashford, sending a clear message.
A return to Manchester United appears inevitable in June, after which Rashford will need to assess his next move.
While staying at United remains an option, the Red Devils are more inclined to pursue a permanent transfer, having already loaned him out twice, first to Aston Villa and now to Barcelona.
Tottenham, to that end, have emerged as an option for Rashford. However, any potential deal depends on one key condition: they must avoid relegation.
The North London club, typically competing at the top end of the Premier League, have endured a difficult season and currently find themselves in the relegation zone.
Should they secure survival, their plan is to strengthen the squad with high-profile signings. Among those expected to arrive is one of Barcelona’s targets, Marcos Senesi from AFC Bournemouth, and Rashford could follow as another key addition.
