A month after their last win against Atlético Madrid (March 22), Real Madrid returned to winning ways with a 2-1 victory over Alavés at the Santiago Bernabéu, powered by goals from Kylian Mbappé and Vinicius Jr.
The side managed by Álvaro Arbeloa snapped a four-game winless streak – two in LaLiga and two in the UEFA Champions League – and secured a crucial result on Matchday 33.
Mbappé opened the scoring around the half-hour mark with a shot that deflected off a defender, wrong-footing goalkeeper Antonio Sivera. Early in the second half, Vinicius Jr. doubled the lead in the 50th minute with a powerful strike from outside the box. Toni Martínez pulled one back for Alavés in stoppage time.
With the win, Real Madrid moves to within six points of LaLiga leaders Barcelona, who will face Celta Vigo on Wednesday.
