Per Mertesacker will leave his role as the Academy Manager at Arsenal at the end of the current season.
The World Cup winner was appointed as the Academy Manager straight after his retirement from playing at the end of the 2017-18 season.
The 41-year-old said it was "a difficult decision" but that he was "thankful" for the opportunity that the north London club had given him.
"Now it is time for me to move on and explore something new and push myself even further," he said.
"I remain focused on finishing the season strongly, continuing to nurture and develop our young talent and support a seamless transition until my very last day with the club."
The German defender played over 200 times for Arsenal, and won the FA Cup three times under Arsene Wenger.
