Manchester United Are Facing Stiff Competition For This Talented Defender: Is He Worth The Fight?

In a recent report, AS stated that Manchester United are facing stiff competition for Sporting CP defender Goncalo Inacio. It has been mentioned that the Red Devils would have to rival Chelsea, Liverpool, Real Madrid and Barcelona in the race to land the Portuguese talent this summer.

Inacio’s Impressive Form In Portuguese Football

Inacio has enjoyed a good run of form at the Portuguese club as he has put in a series of impressive displays for them in Liga Portugal. The 24-year-old has found the back of the net twice and grabbed three assists in 39 matches for Sporting this season across various competitions.

The Portuguese talent is currently among the best centre-backs in Liga Portugal. Hence, Man United would do well to lure him to the Theatre of Dreams this off-season.

His current contract at the Portuguese club will expire in the summer of 2030, which could make it difficult for the Red Devils to sign him on the cheap later this year.

Inacio is a good tackler of the ball and can time his challenges well to earn possession back for his team inside his half. He doesn’t mind putting his foot through the ball when the opposition are on the front foot and excels at playing his way out from the back.

Standing at 1.86m, the Portuguese talent is a strong presence in the air as well. However, there are some concerns over whether he can cope with the high intensity of the Premier League if the Red Devils manage to get a deal done for him this summer.

We can expect Inacio to bring more quality and depth to Man United head coach Michael Carrick’s defence. He has what it takes to nail down a regular first-team spot at the Mancunian club in the coming seasons.

At 24, Inacio has his peak years ahead of him, which makes him a worthy target for Man United to consider at the end of this campaign. He would be well-worth the fight, so Carrick would be wise to step up his efforts to land him in the upcoming transfer window.
