Paolo Maldini meeting with Fenerbahce Presidential candidate Hakan Safi (Instagram)
While his old club Milan is in shambles, Paolo Maldini confirms he met with Fenerbahce Presidential candidate Hakan Safi. ‘A strong football mind.’
The Rossoneri have wiped the slate clean after failing to qualify for the Champions League, today firing coach Max Allegri, director of sport Igli Tare, technical director Geoffrey Moncada and CEO Giorgio Furlani with a single brutal statement.

Maldini in talks with Fenerbahce
During the current chaos, Maldini it seems will not be targeted for a return to his beloved San Siro, because he is being lined up as the new technical director of Fenerbahce.
That all depends on if Hakan Safi wins the Presidential election, but the Italian did post on social media about their meeting last week.
“Wonderful time in Istanbul with Hakan Safi. A strong football mind, a passionate leader and most importantly a true friend. We had great discussions about football and I’m sure we will continue sharing many more moments together in the future.”
It remains to be seen what role he would have at Fenerbahce if Safi were to be elected, but this was one of several meetings, following their encounter in Italy earlier this month.
There were also reports that he was lining up former Rossoneri coach Stefano Pioli for the Turkish team.
Maldini was director of development at Milan in 2018-19, then promoted to technical director from 2019 until his dismissal in June 2023.
