Real Madrid have endured another difficult season with injuries hampering the team at every step of the way.
The biggest concern once more has been the centre-back department where Eder Militao has again spent most of the season injured, Antonio Rudiger has struggled with problems and pushed himself, and David Alaba’s level has dipped.
With summer signing Dean Huijsen also spiralling after a positive start, Los Blancos understand the need to strengthen the position before next season.
Ibrahima Konate back on the agenda
In that regard, BILD reports that Real Madrid have revived their interest in Liverpool centre-back Ibrahima Konate.
In fact, the German outlet goes on to claim that the French international is now Los Blancos’ number one target to reinforce the backline in the summer.
If true, this will be a major U-turn, considering that Real Madrid had not so long ago decided to end their interest in Konate.

It must be noted that the 26-year-old defender only has a few months left on his contract at Anfield and will be available for free in the summer.
And, as per BILD, Konate has pretty much closed the book on his time in England and is looking forward to a new adventure next season, having been at Liverpool since 2021.
Real Madrid saw two of their targets slip out of their hands recently with Marc Guehi joining Manchester City in the winter and Dayot Upamecano signing a new contract at Bayern Munich.
This situation may have led to them reconsidering their stance regarding Konate, who is now said to be the top target at Valdebebas.
A move to the Santiago Bernabeu could appeal to the 26-year-old, as he would be reuniting with his France teammates Kylian Mbappe, Aurelien Tchouameni, and Eduardo Camavinga. Only time will tell whether a transfer materialises.
