Leven eager to reward 'exceptional' Dons support

Peter Leven wants to repay Aberdeen's "exceptional" away support by steering the Scottish Cup holders past Dunfermline and into the Scottish Cup semis.

Having been consigned to a bottom-six Premiership finish with defeat to Celtic in midweek, the Dons pursue their last chance of silverware when they visit Neil Lennon's Pars on Saturday night.

"It'll be a great atmosphere," said interim boss Leven.

"The away fans are exceptional. I think there's over 4,000 going down and I've heard the game's sold out as well.

"So it'll be a great atmosphere, but the most important thing is that we get through to the next round."

Leven welcomes Tom McIntyre back into the squad while Nicky Devlin awaits news from the scan on his knee.

Dunfermline knocked out Hibs earlier in the competition and Leven is braced for a testing evening. Aberdeen beat Motherwell in the previous round but that remains their only win in the past seven games.

"We just need that wee bit of a break," he said. "I said after Wednesday it was a good performance but maybe we just need a wee bit of luck going our way as well.

"It's another opportunity to get a win, but it's tough opposition. They've beaten a Premiership team already and we need to be well prepared.

"The fighting spirit is still there. They gave it everything [against Celtic], I think they do every game.

"We're always in games. The results haven't been great, but hopefully that can turn. The boys are in good spirits and looking forward to the game.

"Dunfermline have some exciting young players, experienced players and a good manager in Neil Lennon, who's experienced.

"It'll be a tough place to go, but we want to advance and it's a good opportunity to advance into that semi-final."
