FC Barcelona take on Real Madrid on Sunday night at the Spotify Camp Nou in what could turn out to be a historic occasion for the club.
After all, they need only one point from the Clasico against their bitter rivals to be crowned the champions of La Liga for the second consecutive season.
Laporta encourages Barcelona squad
Leading up to the game, Barcelona president-elect Joan Laporta visited the Ciutat Esportiva on Wednesday to watch the team’s morning training session and offer encouragement ahead of the Clasico, reports AS.
Laporta was present at the training facilities alongside interim president Rafa Yuste and observed the entire session before later meeting Hansi Flick in his office.
He also took the opportunity to greet every player individually as they stepped onto the pitch, offering encouragement ahead of the match against Real Madrid, where the team could mathematically secure the La Liga title.

In fact, Barcelona do not even require a victory, as a draw would also be enough for their coronation as champions.
Laporta did not go into the dressing room to deliver a motivational speech to the squad. His confidence in the team is so strong that his only intention with the visit was to encourage the players and wish them the best of luck.
The president-elect, who will officially assume full duties from 1 July, is aware that the team already knows exactly what it must do on Sunday.
Having seen the squad first-hand, he confirmed that the players are fully focused and highly motivated, making additional words unnecessary at this stage.
The squad, however, appreciated Laporta’s visit and remains convinced of victory and of being able to deliver the title to the supporters immediately after the match.
