Incredibly, It was Mbappe's 40th goal of the season as he continues to dazzle since his high-profile move to Los Blancos in the summer of 2024. It also represented the Frenchman’s 70th goal in the Champions League but it also secured him a special record in the most prestigious club competition. With the goal against Bayern, Mbappe became the first player in history to score 10 away goals in a single Champions League campaign.
Impressively, Mbappe required just four games to reach that milestone with the 27-year-old the top scorer in the competition this season with 15 goals in just 11 games. The former PSG attacker famously scored four goals against Olympiacos in the pool phase and he also netted a hat-trick against Kairat Almaty. At the time of writing, the tie is delicately poised but Mbappe could be set for a special season in the Champions League, if Madrid progress into the semi-finals.
