Inter Milan Defender Admits ‘We Will See What Happens’ As Question Marks Arise Over End-Of-Contract Future

Stefan de Vrij has left his Inter Milan future deliberately open-ended, admitting he will see what happens when his contract expires at the end of the season, while delivering warm praise for head coach Cristian Chivu after the 3-0 victory over Cagliari.

The Netherlands defender spoke to Radio TV Serie A after the final whistle, covering his contract situation, the Coppa Italia semi-final and his assessment of the man in the dugout.

On his future, De Vrij kept his answer simple but revealing, via FCInterNews.

“Yes, certainly until the end of the season. I am out of contract. We will see what happens.”

His words on Chivu were notably generous.

“He is very good and very clear about what he wants, and you can see it on the pitch,” De Vrij said.

“He knows how to motivate and communicate well with the squad. And is doing very well in his first year at Inter.”

On Tuesday’s Coppa Italia semi-final second leg against Como, the defender was equally focused.

Inter hold a lead heading into the second leg but Cesc Fabregas’ side will not go down without a fight.

“It is another very important match because we are playing for a trophy. We must do everything to try to reach the final, many of us have already been there and we know how special it is.”
