Sky Sport Italia pundit Gianluca Di Marzio claims Liverpool made a €20m for Curtis Jones, but Liverpool are asking for at least €30m, despite a contract that expires next summer.

The midfielder has long been a target for the Nerazzurri and had already been approached for a possible transfer over the January window.

Now that his contract is due to run out in June 2027, Inter had assumed the price-tag would drop to a much lower figure.

Initial negotiations took place today, but Sky Sport Italia maintain the outcome was a huge €10m gap between demand and offer.

The proposal on the table is worth circa €20m, whereas Liverpool are asking for €30m to make the sale, along with a cut of the future sell-on fee.

That is a significant difference and Inter will be hesitant to pay that for a player who will be a free agent in a year’s time.

They hope that the fact the player prefers them to Aston Villa can prompt Jones to push for a lower fee to Inter.

The 25-year-old England international is a product of the Liverpool youth academy, so any sale would represent a pure profit.

Jones made 49 competitive appearances for the Reds this season, scoring three goals and providing three assists for his teammates.
