Real Madrid forward Rodrygo has shared a heartening update on his rehabilitation process, exactly eight weeks after undergoing surgery for a season-ending knee injury.

The 25-year-old Brazilian international suffered a devastating rupture of the anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) and the lateral meniscus in his right knee during Madrid’s 1-0 defeat away at Getafe on 2 March 2026.

The injury came as a seismic blow to both club and country, as it ended his campaign and ruled him out of the upcoming 2026 FIFA World Cup.

Having undergone surgery already, Rodrygo has been working hard on his recovery. Now, taking to Instagram to update his followers, he expressed his gratitude and determination.

“8 weeks post-surgery. Very happy with my progress,” he wrote. “God has given me strength to keep going even on the difficult days. Step by step, day by day, we keep moving forward.”

Recent reports indicate that the forward has been following an intensive recovery program, involving double training sessions daily.

This routine combines rehabilitation at Real Madrid’s Valdebebas facility with personalised sessions at home alongside his long-time trainer, Marcel Duarte.

While some optimistic projections suggest a potential return in early 2027, Real Madrid’s medical staff remain extremely cautious.

The Merengues are unlikely to rush the Brazilian international’s comeback until the risk of a relapse is entirely eliminated.
