‘I’m excited by what the future holds’ – Jeglertz reacts to Manchester City’s WSL title success

Manchester City head coach Andrée Jeglertz says that the club have lots more to fight for after sealing their first Barclays Women’s Super League title in a decade.

The Cityzens were crowned the 2025/2026 Barclays Women’s Super League champions after title rivals Arsenal could only draw 1-1 at Brighton & Hove Albion this evening. Only an Arsenal win would have seen the title race continue for at least a few more days.

Speaking after his side’s title win was confirmed, Manchester City boss Jeglertz hailed the togetherness and hard work of his players and staff.

“Helping guide this team to the WSL title is something I will never forget,” Jeglertz said. “The girls have met every challenge in front of them head on and have been an absolute joy to coach this season.

“In the good moments and the bad, they’ve always stuck together and found a way to win – something that all great champions do.

“This wouldn’t have been possible without the incredible effort, belief, passion and dedication of my colleagues, the players and the fans. They’ve all been a credit to the club as well as themselves and deserve to celebrate this amazing moment.”

Commenting on the future, Jeglertz said that there is lots more success for the club to pursue.

He said “This isn’t the end of the road – we still have plenty to fight for this season and in the coming years. I’m excited by what the future holds for this amazing group of players and this fantastic club.”

Manchester City are set to be presented with the Barclays Women’s Super League trophy after their final game at West Ham United on Saturday 16 May 2026.
