Manchester City departing duo Bernardo Silva and John Stones were given a farewell party the night after their 3-3 draw with Everton in Merseyside.
Silva and Stones have confirmed that they will be bringing the curtain on their respective illustrious, trophy-laden spells at the Etihad Stadium when their contracts expire in June.
The pair represent the very best of Pep Guardiola‘s tenure at Manchester City and their upcoming exits mark a pivotal juncture in director of football Hugo Viana‘s ongoing rebuild of the first-team.
“They feel relieved, relaxed” – Pep Guardiola reacts to Bernardo Silva and John Stones exit announcements
City remain in pursuit of a domestic treble in the final weeks of the season, having slipped up in the Premier League title race earlier this week courtesy of a 3-3 draw with Everton, though they will be desperate to return to winning ways against Brentford on Saturday evening.
Snapped: Bernardo and Stones receive Man City farewell
Manchester City players of the past and present alike, accompanied by their partners, as well as coaching staff joined hands to throw a heartfelt farewell to Silva and Stones at Louis in Manchester on Tuesday night.
The Blues took a breather after Monday’s disappointing result at the Hill Dickinson Stadium to celebrate the unquantifiable contributions of Silva and Stones to City over the years.
Former Manchester City captain Kyle Walker was also in attendance to pay tribute to close friends Silva and Stones, with whom the Englishman won a plethora of silverware at the Etihad Stadium before joining Burnley in 2025.
While Stones has recently returned to full fitness, the 31-year-old has dropped down the pecking order for Manchester City as the season has progressed, with January signing Marc Guehi and Abdukodir Khusanov regulars at centre-half as Ruben Dias and Josko Gvardiol remain injured.
Silva has been a regular starter all season as the Manchester City captain, who lifted the club’s first title in two seasons when his side beat Arsenal in the Carabao Cup final in March, looks to lead his side to a historic second domestic treble under Guardiola before his exit.
