When Donyell Malen arrived in Rome on loan from Aston Villa in January, few could have predicted the scale of the impact he was about to make.
He had spent the previous 18 months at Villa Park largely underused, deployed wide rather than through the middle, increasingly frustrated at not playing in the position that had made his name at PSV and Borussia Dortmund. The move to Roma, as it turned out, came together in 24 hours, and changed everything.
